Cicely Mary Barker was born in Croydon on 28th June 1895. Cicely began to draw when she was very young, although she had no formal artistic training. Children were always her favourite subject and were used as models for her Flower Fairies.

The first Flower Fairies book 'Flower Fairies of the Spring' was published in 1923 with new titles gradually added to the series until the last, 'Flower Fairies of the Wayside', was published in 1948.

After 75 years the Flower Fairies are still as popular as ever and can now be enjoyed as figurines to have in your own garden or around the home.
